Further Information about the speaker, his work, and the talk gathered by our SCASTRO Secretary/Talks Arranger, Mike Maunder and issued in his meeting reminder email heralding the talk:-

On Thursday 17th October 2019 we will host the second of this Season's Public Talks, and we are delighted to welcome back Dr Steve Barrett from Liverpool University. Steve has previously spoken to us about Dark Matter and Space and Time. This week Steve will be going back 13.8 billion years to tell us how it all began from the first picosecond, matter and antimatter, through the first few seconds up to 377,000 years and beyond. This is the most exciting journey the universe has been on as the laws of physics developed to govern the world we occupy today. As amateur astronomers I'm sure that it's useful for us to know and understand where it all came from as we stare at our night sky in wonder. Steve is a great speaker and we will go away having learnt something about the beginning as well as having a handout to reflect on later.
